Located as it is in the heart of the Khao San area, Soi Rambuttri is a popular side-street among travelers who are looking for a hotel that is close enough to Khao San Road to provide easy access to all of its benefits, yet just far away enough to offer some respite from its crowds.
Running parallel to Khao San Road, Soi Rambuttri is linked to the well-known tourist thoroughfare by a 2-minute stroll through quaint alleyways. It is in many ways, however, far from the madding crowd of its noisy neighbor. That’s not to say that Soi Rambuttri doesn’t offer its own entertainment. There is live music on most nights at places like Streats Bar. It’s just that the type of traveler who opts for a Soi Rambuttri hotel over one on Khao San Road tends to be a bit more chilled out and—some would say—more chic.
Although not a particularly long street, Soi Rambuttri does offer a decent selection of accommodation that ranges from small guest houses up to mid-sized boutique hotels. Soi Rambuttri hotels tend to be fairly unremarkable as a rule, but there is one new kid on this trendy block, however, that is creating quite a splash.
The first international hotel chain to open a branch in the Khao San area, ibis has brought with its established brand a splash of colour and a dash of style. From the moment you enter the spacious lobby of ibis Styles Bangkok Khaosan, you are struck by the almost flamboyant use of colour to give this surprisingly large hotel its vibrant identity. Even the swimming pool is decorated in rainbow colours, while the stylish yet understated rooms come in a variety use of sizes, configurations and colour schemes to create a boutique feel to an international chain.
ibis Bangkok may be the first international brand to open a Soi Rambuttri hotel, but with a dash of colour, it has done so in style.
