Bangkok has a new trend that’s bound to delight pedestrians everwhere: The return of official walking streets! This new project from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) sees popular neighbourhoods all over Thailand transform areas into walking streets for tourists and locals to explore and enjoy. Even better for guests at ibis Styles Bangkok Khaosan Viengtai is the fact that one of the three main ones in Bangkok so far is the Khaosan walking street! Get your excitement up as you read on about what’s in store.
Set to take place every Monday from 6pm onwards, pedestrians can look forward to an array of cultural activities. The entire Khaosan road gets closed off, with a stage being erected next to Chana Songkhram police station. That main stage will be where talented students perform various traditional Thai dances as well as charming musical interludes. MCs speaking both Thai and English will keep onlookers informed about what they are watching. In short, the Khaosan walking street will be an easy way to enjoy free Thai cultural shows in an informal, relaxed setting! So remember to make sure your camera or smartphone is fully-charged to take as many pictures as you need.
What else is available?
All this and more, alongside the usual colourful characters that make Khaosan a classic tourist draw. Be sure to make Monday your street exploration day!
